BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The Upshur County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, announced the unexpected passing of Sheriff Virgil D. Miller.
A statement posted to the department’s Facebook page Tuesday afternoon read: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and his brothers and sisters in law enforcement.”
“Viewing and funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time,” the statement continued. “Daily operations of the Sheriff’s Department and Tax Office will continue, and the Office of the Upshur County Commission will release additional details in the coming days.”
While the tax office was closed temporarily, it is scheduled to reopen at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
RealWV will provide updates regarding the final arrangements for Sheriff Miller, as well as his potential successor, as additional information is made available.
