Jennifer Garner surprised on national television with WV honor

By RealWV Staff

This morning, West Virginia native Jennifer Garner appeared on the Drew Barrymore Show to promote her new show The Last Thing He Told Me. It just so happened to be Jennifer’s 51st birthday!

After giving Jennifer several gifts, Drew told her there was one more thing. “From here on out, April 17 will be known as Jennifer Garner Day in Charleston!”

Shocked, Garner became very emotional and expressed her appreciation. Mayor Amy Goodwin shared a video message on the show thanking Jennifer for all her support to Charleston and West Virginia over the years.

The gifts weren’t done yet, though. Jennifer Garner then proceeded to give Save the Children a $25,000 gift. She is a board member for the organization, working across the country and world to alleviate child poverty. Save the Children has also been instrumental here in West Virginia in flood recovery, child literacy, and more.

Raised in Charleston, WV, Jennifer attended George Washington High School. She returns to the state frequently to visit family and stay in touch with friends.

You can watch Jennifer’s new show on Apple+ TV. New episodes premier on Fridays. The show also stars Angourie Rice, Aisha Tyler, Augusto Aguilera, Geoff Stults, and John Harlan Kim. Reese Witherspoon is an executive producer. The show is based on the #1 best selling book.
