Callaway Junior Rookie League draws largest-ever field to St. Mary’s course

The Callaway Junior Tour Rookie League, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), saw its largest field Saturday at the St. Mary’s Golf Course.

The CJRT Rookie League is broken into three divisions, based on skill and experience. Division winners today were:
• AAA (nine holes): Jude Walker of Mount Zion;
• AA (nine holes): Bentley Myers of Harrisville; and
• A (six holes): Kaien Richards of Parkerrsburg.

Kaien Richard.

“I’ve been looking forward to my first experience with the kids,” said St. Mary’s Clubhouse Manager Sabrina Heasley. “Our golfers tell us the course is in perfect shape, so we see this WVGA event as a way to get more of our youth involved in golf.”

Bentley Myers.

“Our largest-ever Rookie League event was a success,” said WVGA Tournament Manager – Youth Operations Lucas Ware. “We are thankful to Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and St. Mary’s Golf Course for giving our young players a great experience.”

Jude Walker.

The event, a partner of Callaway Golf and conducted by the West Virginia Golf Association, featured a field of 34 golfers ages 5 to 16 from across West Virginia and other states.

The Callaway Junior Tour Rookie League is back in action Saturday, June 10, at Black Knight Country Club.
