As investigation looms, Roach resigns as Superintendent, State BOE takes control of Upshur County

By RealWV Staff,

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – After spending Wednesday mostly behind closed doors, the W.Va. State Board of Education voted to assume control of the Upshur County school system. The decision was based upon numerous instances of non-compliance, and potential criminal-mismanagement of federal pandemic relief funds.

In the wake of the controversy, State Superintendent of Schools David Roach tendered his resignation. The board has scheduled a meeting for June 23 to determine whether or not Roach’s resignation will be accepted.
