Michele Blatt named W.Va.’s new Superintendent of Schools
By RealWV Staff,
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – After the sudden departure of David Roach, longtime deputy Michelle Blatt has been named as West Virginia’s new superintendent of schools.

Roach’s resignation, which was tendered nine days ago, came in the wake of the State Department of Education assuming operational control of the Upshur County school system. A review of Upshur County school’s allegedly revealed numerous instances of financial non-compliance. Roach was criticized for his handling of this situation after being made aware of the allegations some four months ago.
Blatt has been an educator for 25 years, the last 17 of which she spent with the State Department of Education.
