Oak Hill’s music & food truck festival returns this Saturday

By Stephen Baldwin, RealWV

Tired of seeing Oak Hill residents visit other communities for weekend activities, local organizer Allyson Wyatt has put together “Groovin’ in the Hill” as a summer concert/food truck series. After a successful round one last month which saw several hundred people attend despite bad weather, Allyson is geared up for round two.

“How could you not love good food and good music?” Allyson says. “All ages are welcome to this family-friendly event.”

Food trucks will begin serving at 4pm. Just like last time, expect a large showing of food trucks and a wide variety of cuisines!

Then the music begins at 6pm with southern West Virginia’s own Shawn Benfield, who is making a name for himself playing across the region. Then, buckle up for a show by The Kind Thieves. Appalachians themselves, they have rock and bluegrass influences in a high-energy, unique set for every show they play.

Allyson pitched Groovin’ in the Hill to the Lively Family and the CIty of Oak Hill, and they both are proud supporters of this new concert/food series. “We couldn’t do this without them,” remarks Allyson.

The series will continue on August 12 and September 9 with a mix of local and well-known artists. All concerts are free. Attendees purchase their own food from vendors.

Stay tuned to RealWV for previews of upcoming concerts in the series this summer.
