As part of a “Day of Service,” medical school students at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine helped paint the Marvel Center campus last weekend.
Located in Rupert behind the former elementary school, the campus is a collaboration between various groups including Marvel Center, Meadow River Valley Association, West End Wrestling, Rupert Volunteer Fire Department, Family Refuge Center, and Greenbrier County Family Support Center.
“Painting the buildings will be completed over the next several months,” said Lesley Tolliver, Director of the Family Support Center. “Phase two of the project will be adding the murals which will incorporate the organizations that make up the campus as well as the communities that make up the Meadow River Valley.”
Leslie Caneda, an artist who lives in Princeton, will be painting the mural.
Each year, new medical students conclude their orientation with a day of community service across the Greenbrier Valley. They paint, clean, landscape, and much more as a way of giving back to the community in which they learn.
