CHARLESTON, W.Va. – It was a great night of entertainment on Saturday, as Charleston-based promotion Pro Wrestling Conquest held their Summer Showdown at the Quantum Sports Complex.

In a main event billed as Imperial Champion Jock Samson’s “final match in West Virginia,” local hero and AEW superstar Cole Karter dethroned the loudmouthed antagonist to the delight of his hometown crowd. Karter now begins his first reign as the promotion’s champion.

In a highly physical contest which allowed for the use of steel chairs as weapons, Charleston’s Bishop Baylor suffered a defeat at the hands of hated-rival Troy Parker. Despite his loss to Parker, in a social media post on Saturday, Baylor stated, “Our feud lives on and this isn’t over.”

Baylor’s “Working Class” stablemate, “Copperhead” Josh Williams, fared even worse in his bout with “Whole Lotta Dude” Crash Jaxon. Despite their match being free of chairs, the much larger Jaxon – whose entrance and move set paid tribute to the recently deceased Windham Rotunda, also known as “Bray Wyatt” – dominated the majority of the contest. While Williams’ valet Jodi Rae tried several times to distract Jaxon, her attempts were unsuccessful and Jaxon earned the victory.

Dani Mo, one half of the “Neon Blondes,” defeated Megan Meyers, Emily Jaye, and Nurse Mika in a four-way  “Conquest Chaos” match. While Mo’s victory was met with approval from fans, it was West Virginia native Nurse Mika who received one of the loudest and most sustained crowd reactions of the evening.

In the evening’s other contests, DD Trash, with Manager Glamorous Gary Damron, successfully defended their ASW (All Star Wrestling) Tag Team Championships against The Outrunners, Levi Everett defeated Jake Crist via disqualification, and “Neon Ninja” Facade – the other half of the Neon Blondes – scored a victory over Chance Prophet.

Professional wrestling returns to Charleston’s Slack Plaza on Sept. 8, when DD Trash is scheduled to defend the ASW Tag Team Championships against SRO. The stars of ASW will perform at the Civic Center in Madison, W.Va. on Oct. 14 for their “Halloween Mayhem” show.
