Get lost in a W.Va. corn maze this fall

By Jonathan Eggleston for RealWV

Living just across the street from the Hanna Farmstead’s new location on Hillsdale Rd., I couldn’t resist the opportunity to see what this picturesque farm had in store for its visitors. With the promise of pumpkins, mazes, and more, my curiosity was piqued.

Owners Alex and Jade Hanna have transformed this scenic location into a pumpkin lover’s dream. They proudly offer around 60 different varieties of pumpkins, many growing in the expansive pumpkin field right on the premises. Their love for pumpkins radiates throughout the farmstead, as pumpkins of all shapes and sizes adorn every nook and cranny. It’s evident that this is a labor of love for the Hannas.

For those looking to support local farming, the Hanna Farmstead is the place to be this pumpkin season. You can choose to pick your own pumpkin from the field or select one of their handpicked favorites on display – the options are as varied as the pumpkins themselves.

Once you enter the events field, they have a kids train for the smaller kids, as well as two corn mazes on-site that are an absolute blast.

There’s a smaller maze for those looking for a quick adventure, but the really impressive one is the large maze. When viewed from above, they both form intricate patterns that are best appreciated from an aerial view.

These aerial images were captured from 150 feet above the corn maze field. Alex did a pretty good job laying out the maze!

These folks seem to have gotten lost inside the big corn maze!

As you wander the farmstead, there are games and different areas set up for everyone to enjoy. Hayrides are a delightful way to explore the grounds and are a must for a fun weekend outing.

Throughout the entire month of October, the farmstead will be hosting school field trips, fostering educational experiences for local students.

Additionally, from October 6th to 8th, Monroe County will witness its first annual pumpkin festival hosted right here!

It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with neighbors, fellow pumpkin enthusiasts, and have a blast with your family.

Don’t forget to check out their website, (where you can pre-order pumpkin festival tickets) and follow them on social media using the links below to stay updated on all the exciting activities happening at the farmstead. And while you’re out there, make sure to indulge in some delicious hot food, amazing desserts, and freshly brewed coffee, the perfect way to refuel after a day of pumpkin picking and maze navigating.

The Hanna Farmstead’s new location is not just a farm; it’s a community hub where the spirit of autumn and neighborly camaraderie thrives. So, come on down, pick a pumpkin, get lost in the maze, and make cherished memories with your loved ones. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss!
