Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church congregation celebrates 150 years

The Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church in Alderson celebrates 100 years in its present facility, and the dawn of the congregation’s 150th year of  life with a special Sunday on October 29.

The New Century Dawning worship service begins at 10:30 and will feature the resident bishop of the West Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church, Sandra Steiner Ball, as preacher.  The worship not only focuses on remembering the church’s storied past, but it looks forward to its future as well.  Congregants will join together in the Wesley Covenant Service (a historic liturgy written by the founder of Methodism, John Wesley), receive Holy Communion, and have an opportunity to remember their baptism.

A delicious lunch will follow worship, followed by another gathering in the sanctuary featuring special soloists, and a time for members, friends, and former pastors to share their special memories of the church.

The pastor, Jeffrey Kanode, and  the congregation welcome all to Johnson Memorial’s  New Century Dawning!
