Parrotheads invited to mini golf fundraiser

Gateway Industries and The Sportsman Tavern are partnering to host a Parrothead Party on November 11 from 5-9pm in Ronceverte. Billed as a Jimmy Buffett Tribute, tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 at the door. All proceeds benefit Gateway’s mini golf course.

“Dan Withrow wanted to honor Jimmy Buffett in some way and also help Gateway with fundraising for the new Miniature Golf Course on Island Park,” says Phyllis Cantrell, Executive Director of Gateway Industries.

What can folks expect?  “A fun night listening to and maybe even dancing to all the oldies but goodies which Buffett sang,” Phyllis hints.

The ticket price includes a slice of pizza and a drink. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.

After announcing the mini golf course earlier this year, Phyllis says progress is being made. “Miniature Golf by Jardin is in the design stage,” she reports. “Kevin Warfield along with his Greenbrier East High School Engineering Team are designing the 18 hole course.  We are breaking ground early spring and plant to open by late  summer, if not sooner.”

Dan is thrilled to support the mini golf course. “I thank Phyllis and Gateway for having the vision to bring this to Ronceverte,” he says. “This project is going to be a great addition to Ronceverte and the Greenbrier Valley.”

The Sportsman Tavern is located along Edgar Avenue in Ronceverte, beside the railroad tracks.
