By RealWV staff,
The week of Thanksgiving is the busiest week for pizza joints all year long. So we decided it would be a great time to celebrate the terrific regional pizza scene in southeastern West Virginia!
Last week, we asked readers to nominate their favorite places to get pizza in the Greenbrier River Valley and the Meadow River Valley, which encompasses parts of Fayette County, Greenbrier County, Monroe County, Pocahonta County Nicholas County, and Summers County.
We received almost 20 nominations and placed them all in a poll on our Facebook page. After four days of voting, the Top 6 are now in the final round:
- Possum Holler, Rupert
- Hill & Holler, Lewisburg
- Vandall’s, Green Sulphur Springs
- April’s, White Sulphur Springs
- Hole in the Wall, Richwood
- Pies & Pints, Fayetteville
Possum Holler

It’s about the atmosphere and nostalgia as much as it’s about the pizza at Possum Holler. A family-run local spot with the industry’s best name, this joint is packed with arcade games from the 80s and 90s. They offer affordable pizza with a variety of toppings in generous portions…and it just makes you feel good eating there with all your neighbors! It’s THE hangout in Rupert.
Hill & Holler

Recently named the top pizza spot in the state by MSN, Hill & Holler is a force to be reckoned with. They are located in downtown Lewisburg inside a gorgeous log structure on 219 and offer beer, wings, sandwiches…and pizza. Lots of neapolitan-style pizzas with creative toppings galore. There is something for everyone, no matter your taste. They frequently have live music and put the big games on their TVs as well. In a food town, they are a must-visit.
Vandall’s

Talk about an underdog…Vandall’s is a family joint inside a gas station just off the interstate. You’d never guess the pies they’re slinging inside from the outside. But locals love it. It’s affordable, homemade, and the customer service is second to none. If you’re a person who likes to add a lot of custom toppings, Vandall’s is the place for you. You can get 14 toppings on a 16-inch pizza for $16.99! And did you know that it’s under the roof of the oldest store in Summers County? The building was originally constructed in 1854. Jeff and family have been turning out pizzas since 2013.
April’s

It’s all about family at April’s. Family owned and operated, they also treat their customers like family. Right down to the pizza and salad buffet, which is a rarity these days and very popular with locals! They also frequently host fundraisers for folks in need of support, dedicating proceeds from the meals to good causes.
Hole in the Wall

Hole in the Wall doesn’t live up to its humble name…it’s so much more. They offer a full menu with a wide range of products, but their pizza is especially beloved in Nicholas and Webster counties. Bikers and families alike frequent them for the fun atmosphere, quality pizza, and wide selection. If you’re on a ride or a hike in the region, you’ve got to go to Hole in the Wall.
Pies & Pints

The real deal. These folks know how to make a unique, high-quality pizza. It’s so good it can stand up to the nation’s best pizzas. They offer everything from heirloom tomato pie to a classic margherita to unique flavors like grape & gorgonzola. Did I mention the brunch pie with eggs, bacon, and scallions? Going to Pies & Pints is a culinary experience, which will leave you counting the days until your next trip. They have locations in Fayetteville, Morgantown, and Charleston.
