Shop local this holiday, and give the gift of West Virginia

With the holiday season in full swing, what better way to support your fellow Mountaineers and show your loved ones how much you care than by sharing the gift of West Virginia!

After the recent launch of The RealWV online store, it occurs to us that there are many other small businesses and artists in our state whose merchandise can be purchased and shipped without leaving the comfort of your couch. 

The following is a list of West Virginia businesses and artists whose products and services make an ideal gift for that hard-to-shop-for person on your list:

Black By God is a community-led news organization based in West Virginia that aims to provide a more nuanced portrayal of the Black Experience in the Appalachian region. Black By God’s online shop features t-shirts of all styles and colors.

Established nearly 40 years ago, The West Virginia International Film Festival (WVIFF) inspires a love of cinema through diverse and inclusive films. Their online store features t-shirts, tote bags, stickers, and tickets to screenings at Charleston’s world famous Floralee Hark Cohen Cinema.

Located in the heart of downtown St. Albans, The Alban Arts Center exists to cultivate and bolster community by providing a premier artistic outlet, to educate and foster the artists of tomorrow through the collaboration and demonstrations of our artists today. The Greenbrier Valley Theatre was founded to create live, professional quality theatre in West Virginia and through theatre to enlighten, enrich and enliven the life of our Region. Tickets for upcoming performances and events are available through their online box office.

The West Virginia Music Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization dedicated to documenting and preserving the rich and lasting contributions West Virginians have made to all genres of music. The Hall of Fame’s online store features t-shirts, hats, mugs, and other assorted merchandise.

The Zoology Zone Science Center is focused on rescuing and rehabilitating animals – enabling them to have a voice, using their stories to teach visitors about both the animals and the science behind their care. The online shop carries apparel, stickers, toys, and other assorted collectibles.

Located on Capitol Street in beautiful downtown Charleston, Taylor Books is an independent bookstore, coffee shop, café, and art gallery. Their online store offers gift cards, books, games, and puzzles.

Located in historic downtown Lewisburg, Serenity Now Outfitters has been one of the Greenbrier Valley’s finest outdoor specialty stores since 2003. Serenity Now’s website offers the full inventory of their retail store, including apparel, footwear, outdoor equipment, and gift cards.

Located in the business district of downtown Lewisburg, A New Chapter is an independent bookstore specializing in new books and gift items for all ages. Their online store carries much of the store’s inventory, including books, collectibles, puzzles, and gift cards. 

Greenbrier County’s Barbara Nissman is recognized as one of the best living concert pianists in the world today. Her online store features CD’s audio recordings, DVD’s performance recordings, and collections of the musician’s writings.

Just Us Lilllys are a family musical trio, who share a love of three-part vocals and melodies. The band’s online store features samples of their music, and CD’s of their audio recordings.

After the summer premiere of her new video on CMT, Logan-native Kate Boytek is fast becoming one of Nashville’s brightest stars. Her website features t-shirts, and other assorted merchandise.

Launched in January, RealWV is West Virginia’s fastest growing news outlet. Our online store features trucker hats and long sleeve t-shirts.
