Wellspring to host free Christmas meal in Rupert

By RealWV staff,

Wellspring, a faith-based nonprofit located in Rupert, is hosting a free Christmas meal this year for residents.

“A lot of places aren’t able to open on Christmas Day, so we want to share what we have with others who are in need,” said Abigail Spangler, Co-Director. “Our volunteers will be serving, there will be Christmas music playing, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere will be open to all of our neighbors.”

The menu includes ham, homemade turkey casserole, mashed potatoes, rolls, a variety of desserts, drinks, and more. Meals are available for dine-in or carryout.

Anyone is welcome to attend the free meal. Wellspring focuses their efforts on meeting the needs of low-income clients across the Meadow River Valley. Their free Thanksgiving meal served over 170 meals to local residents.

If you’re interested in volunteering on Christmas Day assisting with the meal, they need help with setup, serving, and cleaning up. Volunteers are asked to arrive at Wellspring at 11 AM. They are also in need of to-go containers and monetary donations.  Those who want to contribute can stop by or mail a donation to Wellspring at PO Box 43, Rupert, WV 25984.

“Wellspring is blessed to be able to provide this meal, with the support of our community members,” added Spangler.

Wellspring is located at 524 Nicholas Street in Rupert. The free meal will be held on Christmas Day from 12-3pm.
