JB McCuskey widens his financial lead over Mike Stuart in the race to be the state’s next top attorney. Campaign finance reports show McCuskey with a 5-1 advantage over Stuart.

State Auditor JB McCuskey has $526,000 cash on hand.  He raised $103,000 this quarter in addition to the $533,000 he raised previously. McCuskey transferred from the governor’s race to the attorney general’s race over the summer, where he had already raised several hundred thousand dollars. After expenses of $114,000, he still has $526,000 remaining in his campaign account.

Major donors include Roger Hanshaw (Speaker of the House), Albert Wright (WVU Health), Bill Cole (auto dealer and former senator), Doug Reynolds (HD Media), Conrad Lucas, Danny Jones, Steve Ruby, John Shott, and Phil Reale. More than two-thirds of his donors come from inside the state.

State Senator Mike Stuart raised $13,000 this quarter in addition to the $108,000 he raised previously. After expenses of $4,000, Stuart still has $119,000 remaining in his campaign account.

Major donors to Stuart include Paul Hardesty (President of the WV Board of Education), Todd Judy (auto dealer), and Richard Bolen (mining industry).  Nearly all of his donors are from inside the state.

State Senator Ryan Weld withdrew from the race in late winter, choosing instead to run for re-election to his Senate seat.

No Democratic or Independent candidates have filed to run for the office.
