Progressive Insurance Company looks to raise rates for more than 30,000 West Virginia customers

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Progressive Classic Insurance Company has become the latest private insurance provider seeking to raise rates for their West Virginia customers. 

Similar to the request made by Farmers Direct Property and Casualty Insurance Company last month, Progressive has asked the State Insurance Commission to approve a rate hike of nearly 20%. However, unlike the less than 1,500 Mountain State Farmer’s customers, approval of the Progressive increase would impact a reported 31,572 West Virginia households. 

The West Virginia Insurance Commission has once again established a public comment period regarding the proposed Progressive rate increase. Only written comments will be accepted, and the comment period will close at 4:30 p.m., pn Thursday, Feb. 8.
