Cabell County Commission approves relocation of voter precincts from Grace Christian Fellowship Church to Explorer Academy

By RealWV Staff,

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Cabell County Commission, during a Special Meeting on Thursday, heard from County Clerk Scott Caserta regarding a request to relocate voting precincts 23 and 28 from Grace Christian Fellowship Church in Huntington, to Explorer Academy Elementary School.

“Essentially, it is what it is,” Caserta told commissioners. “The church, Grace Christian, wants their lodge back. They don’t want to use it for elections, and that’s fine. It’s their choice.”

Caserta added that Explorer Academy Elementary School was selected, in part, because “schools have been great to work with.” Caserta further confirmed that notices will be sent to all those impacted by the precinct relocation.

Explorer Academy Elementary School is located at 2901 Saltwell Road in Huntington.

With no further discussion, commissioners unanimously approved the relocation of the precincts. The change is effective immediately. The next regular meeting of the Cabell County Commission is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 25 at 10 a.m.
