Shawlin Hills Farm awarded Greenbrier Valley Farm of the Year

Jack and Georgeanne Morgan and Shawlin Hills Farm of Organ Cave are the Greenbrier Valley Conservation District District Farm of the Year winners for 2023. The Morgan farm consists of a diverse and mutually supportive mix of conservation and production agriculture. In the next
10 years, they would like to have approximately 50 colonies of bees selling bees and honey while maintaining 25 cow/calf pairs. Jack and Georgeanne would like to have 20-25 goats for clearing brush and 25-30 chickens to sell eggs. Within 10 years, they would like to establish a herd of approximately 40-50 whitetail deer to sell bucks to hunting preserves and does to other breeders.
