Former WVU star Geno Smith gets $12.7M contract

By RealWV Staff,

”Thank you, Lord!”

That was Geno Smith’s reaction on Thursday when the Seattle Seahawks kept him on their roster, which converted his contract to a fully-guaranteed $12.7 million deal.

In 2022, Smith won the National Football League’s Comeback Player of the Year. He led the NFL in completion percentage with a 69.8 percent mark. He also set franchise records for completions (399), attempts (572) and passing yards (4,282).

While the Seahawks missed the playoffs this year and Smith’s production was down slightly, analysts say his contract represents great value whether the Seahawks choose to keep him as their starter or another team tries to trade for his services.
