Herd’s Tyler Jones shoots 67 at Loyola Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, AZ. – Marshall Men’s Golf senior Tyler Jones fired a 5-under 67 in the second round to vault into the Top-20 at the 2024 Loyola Intercollegiate on Monday at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona.

Jones was one of only a handful of competitors in the 20-team field to have a bogey-free round on Monday. He finished with five birdies and 13 pars to ascend up the leaderboard.

“It was really good to see our improvement from rounds 1 to 2,” Marshall Men’s Golf coach Matt Grobe said. “Tyler played a bogey-free round and made five birdies to shoot a 5-under 67, which is great.”

As a team, Marshall shot 6-under on the day behind the play of Jones and Ryan Bilby, who finished under-par for the second-consecutive day.

Bilby, who started his day on No. 5, finished strong with consecutive birdies on Nos. 1 and 2 before a pair of pars to close out his round.

Like Bilby, Cameron Jarvis also birdied Nos. 1 and 2 on the back half of his round to finish with a 1-under 71. Jarvis tied Jones for most birdies on the team with five. Bilby and Joseph Kalaskey each had four birdies on the day as well.

“Ryan birdied a couple holes at the end to get to 70 and Cameron had a solid 71,” Grobe said. Clayton and Jospeh are both right there at 74 and 75, too.”

Competing as an individual, Andrew Wyss also got into the red numbers on Monday, shooting a 1-under 71 after a round that featured three birdies.

“Andrew showed great improvement today with a 1-under 71,” Grobe said. “I really liked the improvement we showed as a team and I’m looking forward to watching us compete in Tuesday’s final round.”

Tuesday’s final round starts at 9:45 a.m. ET / 7:45 a.m. MT. To keep up with scoring of the final round of the 2024 Loyola Intercollegiate, click HERE.
