‘Church in a bar’ this Saturday in Lewisburg

By RealWV staff,

The third in a series of events called “Not Church” happens this Saturday night from 6-8pm at the Brier Patch Bar & Grill. What is it?

“It’s basically church in a bar,” explains Rev. Stephen Baldwin. “A lot of people are hungry for a more spiritual life, but they just won’t come to a traditional church service.”

Events were held at Big Draft Brewing and The Sportsman Tavern last year. Child care was provided and young professionals were invited to attend. But this Saturday’s event is for all ages.

Chef Abel Nobel, known for having some of the best burgers in the Greenbrier Valley, has a limited menu available for everyone who attends (shown above). Folks pay for their own food and drinks. After everyone has finished their meals and conversations, the group has a short, informal discussion led by a local minister.

“We eat, drink, and talk about Jesus,” Baldwin says. “It’s a great way to spend a Saturday evening with your spouse, friends, and neighbors.”

No reservations are required. Everyone is welcome.
