Each day at 10am and 2pm, visitors to the State Fair of West Virginia are treated to free food demonstrations. The events are held at the grandstand-side entrance to the West Virginia building.
“All the departments in the West Virginia building share the stage,” says Gloria Tuckwiller, who is a volunteer leader. “We just really want to encourage people to attend and try to learn something new!”

Food demonstrations are hosted by culinary professionals representing different types of cuisine. They prepare food in front of a live crowd. The aim is to provide culinary inspiration fair-goers can try at home with their families.
Here’s the full schedule of food demonstrations currently booked for the remainder of the fair:
- Sunday, Aug 11: Upscale southern classic cuisine presented by The Schoolhouse Hotel
- Monday, Aug 12: Contemporary southern cuisine presented by The General Lewis Inn
- Wednesday, Aug 14: Plant-based diet by Brenda Workman
- Thursday, Aug 15: Hometown favorites by Kitchen 304
