The Greenbrier wins best historic hotel from Newsweek readers

The votes are in…and The Greenbrier has won “Best Historic Hotel” according to Newsweek.

“Historical hotels provide an excellent two-for-one benefit for families and history lovers: lodgings plus historical exploration,” says Newsweek. “From colonial inns to 19th-century mountain retreats, our list of top historical hotels in the U.S. provides an outstanding way to explore American history as well as enjoy top-tier accommodations with striking architecture.”

Editors selected 15 historic hotels and then asked readers to choose the Top 10. Other nominees in the Top 15 include The Grand Hotel in Michigan, The Plaza Hotel in New York, The Stanley Hotel in Colorado, & Hotel Monteleone in Louisiana.

The Greenbrier, located in White Sulphur Springs, WV, came in first, while The Blennerhassett Hotel & Spa, located in Parkersburg, WV, came in seventh. For a full list of the Top 10, visit here.

The Greenbrier Hotel

The Greenbrier includes golf courses, a spa, fine dining, luxury shopping, hiking, biking, trail rides, horseback rides, gaming, and more. It is the largest employer in Greenbrier County.
