Dirty Birds release 2025 regular season schedule, announce second annual Home Run Derby

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The month of February brings many things – Valentine’s Day, World Cancer Day, and the Super Bowl, to name a few. But for the lovers of baseball, February represents the unofficial beginning of summer, and the imminent return of our national pastime.

In less than 90 days, our reigning, defending Southern Division Champion Charleston Dirty Birds will welcome fans back to GoMart Ballpark for their second-annual Home Run Derby. And with last year’s team falling just one series short of winning the Atlantic League Championship – as well as stellar play from Atlantic League Player of the Year Keon Barnum, Martinsburg-native and Defensive Player of the Year Jared Carr, and Postseason All-Star Rusber Estrada – fans have every reason to be excited for what lies ahead in 2025.

Nearly 1,400 fans were in attendance last year to witness first baseman Dariel Gomez’s crowning as the Dirty Birds’ inaugural home run champion, as well as his joining with teammates to turn Morris Street into a treasure-trove of freshly-scuffed souvenirs. And with the Bird’s repeatedly demonstrating their ability to heavy-hit with the best in the league, 2025’s Home Run Derby promises to be every bit the fireworks display. 

The Dirty Bird’s 2025 Home Run Derby will take place on Saturday, April 19, at 6 p.m.

While the Dirty Birds will begin the regular season on Friday, April 25 against Lexington, they will once more welcome fans for their home opener seven-days later. The Dirty Birds will take on the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs at GoMart Ballpark on Friday, May 2. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. 

Unfortunately for hometown fans, the only regular season opportunity the Birds will have to avenge their loss in last year’s Atlantic League Championship series will be in a late-August, three-game series, played in Pennsylvania. Beginning on Friday, August 22, the Dirty Birds will visit WellSpan Park to challenge the defending Atlantic League Champion York Revolution. All regular season games, both home and away, are available for streaming with a membership to FloSports.
