Public access Naloxone dispenser installed at CAMC General Hospital
PRESS RELEASE:
A new public access Naloxone box has been installed at CAMC General Hospital, providing a critical resource to help save lives and combat the ongoing overdose crisis in our community.
The box, which contains Naloxone, a life-saving medication that can reverse opioid overdoses, was made possible through the generous donation of SOAR (Solutions Oriented Addiction Response) and the Pallotine Foundation. Additionally, the Naloxone itself is funded through the West Virginia Office of Drug Control Policy (WV ODCP) in partnership with the University of Charleston and Dr. Lindsay Acree.
This Naloxone box will be accessible to anyone in the community who may be in need, ensuring that individuals experiencing an opioid overdose can receive immediate assistance. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to reduce fatal overdoses, provide essential resources to those struggling with substance use disorder and support recovery efforts across the region.
This public access Naloxone box is an important step in our collective effort to save lives, reduce the stigma surrounding addiction and ensure that support is available to those in need.
Naloxone has been proven to be an effective tool in preventing overdose deaths, and this new resource will help bridge the gap in immediate care, potentially saving lives in critical situations.
The availability of Naloxone at CAMC General Hospital is part of a broader community effort to address the opioid crisis through education, prevention and support for individuals on the path to recovery.
