CAMC partners with Mountain Steer to offer local beef in cafeteria

In the cafeteria on Tuesday, Becky Harless announced that CAMC Greenbrier Valley Medical Center has begun using local beef in crafting meals from the cafeteria.
“We already have a great partnership with Morrison (food service company) and a great chef here, but we are expanding that,” Harless, the Chief Administrative Officer, told a crowd of approximately 60 employees and community members. “It will now include locally-sourced beef. When I say local, I mean from right here in Greenbrier County.”

“I had the luxury of going and seeing (Mountain Steer), and it’s the cleanest place you ever did see,” she said. “I’ve been impressed with them from start to finish.”
Not only will their local beef be available for guests and employees in the hospital, but patients will also soon be receiving meals that include local beef as well. Harless hopes the partnership grows to other Vandalia-owned hospitals as well.
“We are so excited and really want to see this work, supporting health and community at the same time.”

Frank Ford, who co-owns Mountain Steer Meat Company with Jamie Tuckwiller, was on-hand in the cafeteria for the announcement.
“When Jamie and I started, the main goal was to offer the same beef we grew up on as family farmers,” he said. “You can’t beat it. We wanted to share it with our community.”
Mountain Steer beef is currently being used by schools, restaurants, the hospital, and families throughout the Greenbrier Valley.

“You guys are the reason we can do what we do,” Ford offered. “Thank you guys from the bottom of our hearts. Now, enjoy yall’s burgers!”
The hospital cafeteria is open seven days a week. Breakfast hours are 6:15-10am. Lunch and dinner are available from 10:45am-8pm. CAMC GVMC is located at 1320 Maplewood Avenue in Ronceverte, WV.
