Mountain Table hosting five-course ‘Celebration of Pork & Pints’ on March 21
By Stephen Baldwin, RealWV

You’ve heard of “farm to table” meals, but you’ve never been to one quite like this.
Mountain Table in Renick is bringing together local pork from Sherwood Farms and pairing it with local beer from Greenbrier Valley Brewing Company for a five-course experience. The event will be March 21 at 5pm.
“It’s about bringing people together around the table to enjoy great food and drink while also deepening the connection between what’s on their plate and where it comes from,” says Alexander Durand of Mountain Table.
“Berkshire hogs are renowned for their rich marbling, deep flavor, and tender texture,” adds Durand. “They are the gold standard of pork, making them the perfect star for this farm-to-table dinner.”
Renick Valley Meats will butcher the hogs from Sherwood Farms, ensuring that every aspect of the meat on attendee’s plates was handled with precision and care.
“In today’s world, so much of what people eat is processed and disconnected from its origins,” says Durand. “With farm to table, you’re getting fresh, responsibly raised food that tastes better. It keeps money in the community and supports local families instead of big corporations. You can actually meet the people who grow and raise it!”

Here’s the menu for each course:
Field & Forage : microgreen Salad with a Pickled Grilled Beet, Grilled Carrot & Bacon Vinaigrette – Braxxie Blonde Ale A fresh start, highlighting farm-fresh Microgreens and smoky richness.
The Butcher’s Cut : Wiener Pork Belly Schnitzel with Peas & Carrots Gravy – Ole Ran’l pilsner A rustic and hearty dish honoring the craft of butchery.
The Spice of Life : Pork Lahp with Fried Rice Paper & Lettuce – Levicy Hazy IPA A bright and zesty take on Laos tradition, bringing heat and balance.
Smoke & Soil : Pork Loin with Turnip Purée & Smoked Beer Compound Butter – 9 forests stout Deep, earthy flavors that connect the land, the smoker, and the brewery.
The Final Pour : Orange posset with Brûlée and Pork Candy – Creamsicle Sour A sweet, citrusy, and smoky sendoff, like a last sip of something special.
Alexander also says, “if beer isn’t your thing, we’ve got you covered with thoughtfully curated cider, wine, and mocktail pairings will also be available to complement each course.”
