Letter to the Editor: Roger Vannoy – The Plan

President Donald Trump has many of us in a constant state of anxiety. From his tariffs against allies hurting our economy, to his prosecution of diversity in the government and armed forces, to firing veterans from the VA and federal employees from the national parks, to threatening to privatize our US postal service, to threatening Greenland and the Panama Canal with a forced takeover, to treating our historical enemies with more grace and kindness than our allies, to dismantling the department of education, to threatening Social Security, etc.
I hear people say “what can I do to help stop the crumbling of our Democracy”? “What can I do to stop Elon Musk and DOGE from ending services, harming veterans, etc?” “WHATS THE PLAN?”
So, here it is, what I have come up with.
1. Unfortunately, we can’t focus on West Virginia right now. We have to wait until 2026.
2. Most urgently, there is an election in Wisconsin for a Supreme Court race. Elon Musk has donated millions to the Republican running. If you want to support non gerrymandering of house districts and the balance of power, donate to https://www.crawfordforwi.com/.
3. In November there is an election for the Virginia Governor’s mansion and house of delegates and State Senate. The Democrats narrowly control the Legislature. If they can flip the Governor’s mansion blue and defend the Legislature, Virginia Democrats will have a trifecta. They’ll be able to do a lot of good in the commonwealth. 4. Upset at how Trump is treating our allies? You can fight back there too. If you want to help Ukraine

Upset at how Trump is treating Canada and Mexico regarding increasing Tariffs because it will hurt our economy? Call Senator Shelley Moore Capito 3043475372, Senator Jim Justice 2022243954, Congresswoman Carol Miller 3042506177. West Virginia does billions of dollars worth of business with Canada. Hurting that business is a bad idea. Tell our representatives in the US congress to stand up for the West Virginia economy. We can’t afford these tariffs.
5. Look for protests in the events section of Facebook. Consider attending. Better yet, Consider organizing your own protest. To utilize the green space in Lewisburg, there are rules. Be sure to call city hall and fill out the paperwork. Also, be sure to alert the media. The Real WV might just show up.
6. Consider running for office. It will take a lot of work, so be prepared. Our state and country is worth it. Please run. Contact your local West Virginia Democratic Party and Mountain Party of West Virginia. They can help.
7. Upset at the Trump administration’s actions against:
A the Environment? Consider joining the Sierra Club West Virginia and Greenbrier Watershed.
B Transgender individuals? Consider joining the ACLU of West Virginia.
C DEI (code for African Americans)? Consider joining NAACP – West Virginia.
All those groups help to fight Trump in court.
8. Upset about Elon Musk’s threats to Social Security? Call the phone numbers previously listed for our elected officials and tell them how you feel.

9. Consider writing letters to the editors of local papers. The smaller the paper, the more likely it will be published.
So, that’s it. That’s the plan as I see it.
