Chastyn Viars claims Kanawha County middle school golf championship, leads John Adams to team title

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – After two weather-related postponements – and despite the looming threat of a third – Kanawha County’s middle school golfers crowned their 2025 champion Friday morning, just before the rain fell on Coonskin Park. 

John Adams’ Chastyn Viars shot a 24 on the day, finishing three under par. In addition to being named individual County Champion, Chastyn led John Adams to the overall team championship, as well. Joining Chastyn in their victory was Cooper Dolan who shot a 28 on the day, then Hank Wilkinson following closely with a 29. Ben Nelson, Max Buckley, and Alex Griffith rounded out the John Adams squad, shooting 33, 35, and 37, respectively.

With an overall team score of 132, Horace Mann Middle School finished in second place, followed by Charleston Catholic with their score of 145 in third. Elkview, West Side, Hayes, Andrew Jackson, and Dupont Middle Schools rounded out the day’s competitors.
