Coalition establishes Trey Yates Legacy Fund to support young farmers
By RealWV staff,
Trey Yates was laid to rest by family and friends yesterday. The young agricultural entrepreneur, who ran Greenbrier Dairy, was tragically killed in a car accident in May.
In cooperation with Trey’s family, the WV Food & Farm Coalition established the Trey Yates Legacy Fund.
“The most meaningful way to honor Trey’s legacy is to invest in the next generation of agricultural entrepreneurs,” said Spencer Moss, director of the coalition. “Trey’s dad, John shared how frustrated Trey would get when he was turned down for loans just because of his age. The family wants to change that–for other young people with big dreams and the determination to make them real.”
The coalition hopes to raise $250,000 for the fund. Donations are accepted via the WV Food & Farm Coalition website.
