Community Awareness Walk in Rainelle this Saturday

By RealWV Staff,

The public is invited to attend a Community Awareness Walk this Saturday, August 30th, from 6:00 – 8:00pm. It will take place in Rainelle. The offices of Valley Works will be the main gathering spot.

The walk is hosted by the Greenbrier County CARE Coalition. The first 50 people to register for the walk will receive a free t-shirt. To register, email Lesley Tolliver at fscgreenbrierljt@gmail.com.

The Greenbrier County CARE Coalition is a collaborative network of community partners working together to address substance use in our region. Our mission is to help end substance use through prevention, awareness, and outreach, while building a stronger and healthier community. By uniting schools, healthcare providers, social services, faith-based organizations, and local leaders, we strive to provide support, education, and hope for those impacted by substance use.

During the evening, luminary bags and markers will be available to decorate in honor and remembrance of those we have lost, as well as those who may be struggling and in need of encouragement. We will also have resource tables from local community organizations, as well as testimonials from speakers whose lives have been affected by substance use.

“This event is an opportunity to come together as a community, share our love and concern, and show our collective commitment to making a difference,” says Nicole Ramsey, who works at the Family Refuge Center as Director of Community Education and serves on the coalition.
