Monroe County Tax, Assessor, and Clerk’s Office to be closed Friday
Union, WV – The Monroe County Commission announces that the following courthouse offices will be closed to the public on Friday, September 5, 2025, to facilitate the transfer of these offices back to the main level of the courthouse:
• Monroe County Sheriff’s Tax Office
• Monroe County Assessor’s Office
• Monroe County Clerk’s Office
This closure is necessary as part of the ongoing courthouse renovation project. Additionally, servers for these offices will be relocated on that day, which may result in temporary loss of access to the Online Tax Inquiry and Online Document Inquiry systems. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work to improve our facilities.
While renovations continue throughout the courthouse, the main floor housing these offices is now mostly complete. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the entire project remains on track for completion around the end of October 2025.
The Monroe County Commission extends its sincere gratitude to our dedicated employees, who have navigated challenging conditions with professionalism and commitment, ensuring that public services have continued with minimal interruptions. We also thank the residents of Monroe County for their patience and support during this transitional period. Your cooperation has been invaluable as we strive to create a more efficient and accessible courthouse for our community.
