Mayor Goodwin and Charleston CVB announce dates for 2026 USA Cycling and USA Gymnastics for All GymFest

PRESS RELEASE:

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin and the Charleston Convention & Visitors Bureau today announced the 2026 USA Cycling Pro Road National Championships presented by Spilman Thomas & Battle will take place June 17-21. The event includes the three disciplines of Time Trials, Criterium, and Road Race and features athletes from Junior, U-23, and Elite categories.

Four days following Pro Roads, the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center will host the 2026 USA Gymnastics for All GymFest June 25-28. Over 500 athletes are expected to participate in TeamGym and Acrobatics and Tumbling competitions.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the USA Cycling Pro Road National Championships, presented by Spilman Thomas & Battle, back to Charleston in June 2026. With races coinciding with Juneteenth and West Virginia Day, we will have the unique opportunity to bring together history, culture, and competition for an unforgettable weekend,” said Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin. “We’re equally excited to host USA Gymnastics for All GymFest for the first time, welcoming more than 500 athletes to experience Charleston’s energy and hospitality. Together, these events promise unforgettable experiences for athletes, families, and fans—and lasting impact for our local businesses and neighborhoods.”

TeamGym features squads comprised of six to 12 members performing a group floor exercise, an all-around group trampette routine consisting of vaulting and minitrampoline passes, and group tumbling. In Acrobatics and Tumbling, athletes compete in pyramid, toss, acro and tumbling, and a team event. The Acrobatics and Tumbling program serves as the developmental program for the college varsity team sport of the same name.

“This USA Gymnastics championship event is evidence of the continued recognition of Charleston as a destination for national athletic events. Not only are we on the radar of USA Olympic sports national governing bodies, we’re seen as a desirable location,” said Charleston CVB President & CEO Tim Brady. “Our facilities, our people, and our City officials and staff are as good or better than anywhere in the country.  These events lead to continued growth in sports tourism in Charleston.”
