TODAY: Vandalia Health CAMC to host career awareness event
PRESS RELEASE:
Most students preparing for college, or the workforce only think of doctors and nurses when thinking about hospital career opportunities. There are so many people working in other settings in health care such as clerical, professional, technical and support areas.
That’s why CAMC has invited over 35 high schools and more than 1,500 students to its 9th Annual Healthcare Career Showcase. Representatives from more than 55 CAMC departments will talk to students about career opportunities in a hospital setting.
The Health Care Career Showcase is Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
The goal of the showcase is to expose students to the vast career opportunities in a hospital.
Walking from booth to booth, students will learn about clinical careers as well as many others including IT, human resources, supply chain and finance etc.
Students can visit the Student Opportunities booth to learn about tuition assistance programs that can help with college funding.
Several West Virginia colleges and universities offering the academic programs needed for many of those jobs will also have displays and information.
Students will be guided through the showcase by a “road map.” This book explains everything needed to work in a particular field including education, minimum requirements, licensure and certification and what schools offer the classes and programs needed for each job.
