Woody Hanna named as Tincher’s replacement on Greenbrier County Commission

LEWISBURG, W.Va. – In the wake of former Commissioner Tammy Tincher’s resignation two weeks ago, the Greenbrier County Commission, during a Special Meeting on Monday, announced the appointment of Woody Hanna to the position of Interim County Commissioner.
Hanna, who formerly held a seat on the Greenbrier County Commission, where he served, for a time, as commission president, was defeated by Tincher in both the 2018 primary and general elections. Though both initially entered the race as registered Democrats, Hanna changed his registration to Republican in September of that year, and competed in the general election as a write-in candidate. Tincher would then defeat him for a second time in the general election, before also changing her registration to Republican in 2021.
As Tincher was a registered Republican at the time of her re-election in 2024, her interim successor must also be a registered Republican of a period of no less than 12 months. The Greenbrier County Republican Executive Committee will vote, at a later date, to select their party’s nominee for the next election. That election will be open to challengers of other parties, and its winner will serve out the remainder of Tincher’s unexpired term, which is scheduled to expire in 2030.
