McDowell County schedules full season of holiday events
By RealWV Staff,
As the holidays draw near, McDowell County is ready with all the cheer you need to help make the season merry and bright.
- The Town of Kimball is sponsoring their “Deck the Pole” decorating contest, now through December 13. This is your chance to show off those decorating chops! Choose a utility pole in town to decorate for the holidays. Poles must be decorated by December 6. The winner will be announced during the annual Christmas Parade on December 13. Entrants must register at Kimball Town Hall. Entry fee is $10 per pole, and the winner will receive a $25 gift card.

- CoalTown Music Co. is looking for individuals interested in joining the community choir – along with 2011 America’s Got Talent winner Landau Murphy, Jr. – for the Christmas show, December 12 at Mt. View auditorium. Interested persons should contact Jason Hunt, at 937-707-8199.

- The CoalTown Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting is scheduled for Friday, December 5, at 7 p.m., at Welch Elementary School. Parade line-up begins at 6:30. There is no charge for participation, but all entries are required to register by calling City Hall, at 304-436-3113.
