PRESS RELEASE

LEWISBURG, WV — The Greenbrier Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol proudly announces that Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Gabriel Bishop was honored as Teenager of the Year by the Lewisburg Elks Club during an awards ceremony held on March 26, 2026.
C/LtCol Bishop was recognized for outstanding community service and exceptional personal achievement. He currently serves as Cadet Commander of the Greenbrier Composite Squadron and was recently promoted to C/LtCol after completing the Ira C. Eaker Achievement. At just 16 years old, Bishop achieved his first solo flight, passed both the FAA Private Pilot License (PPL) written exam and FAA Part 107 (Remote Pilot) certification, and is on track to complete his PPL check ride in September when he turns 17.
In addition, the Greenbrier Composite Squadron announced an upcoming hot dog fundraiser to support cadet programs. The fundraiser will be held at Tractor Supply Company in Fairlea on April 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funds raised will help cadets purchase new uniforms as the squadron transitions from ABUs to OCPs and support a planned educational field trip to the U.S. Air Force National Museum in Dayton, Ohio.
Civil Air Patrol is the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, providing aerospace education, emergency services, and cadet programs to communities nationwide. Our squadron meets every Monday from 6-830pm at the Greenbrier Valley Airport Gate 12, Lewisburg, WV.
