By Hannah Yost, RealWV
I’m honored to join The Real WV as Associate Editor and to have the opportunity to contribute to the stories that shape the place I’ve always called home.
I’m from Lewisburg, West Virginia, and I’m proud to still call it home. My love for this state runs deep. I love everything from its rich culture to its natural beauty and the strong sense of community that defines it. I graduated from Concord University with a degree in Secondary English Education and currently work as a middle school English teacher.
Storytelling has always been at the heart of what I do, both in the classroom and beyond. I’m passionate about amplifying voices, reporting meaningful stories, and sharing narratives from across our region.
With family roots in Charleston, where much of my family still lives, I’m especially looking forward to covering stories
from that area as well.
Some of my favorite moments are spent outdoors—fishing on the New River or camping at Sandstone during the summer. Those experiences continue to inspire my perspective and appreciation for everything this state has to offer.
When I’m not teaching or writing, I enjoy gardening, reading, traveling, or experimenting with sourdough in my kitchen. I’m incredibly excited to step into this new chapter as a writer and editor, and I look forward to helping share the real stories of West Virginia.
