Kid’s Fishing Derby returns to White Sulphur this Saturday

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV — “Here fishy, fishy!” It’s time for the annual Kid’s Fishing Derby in White Sulphur Springs, where children have the chance to catch and keep monster rainbow trout in a heavily-stocked pond.
Hosted this Saturday, May 23, at the the White Sulphur Springs National Fish Hatchery, children ages 4-13 are invited to attend. There is no charge, but children are asked to register.
Kids ages 4-7 can register beginning at 7:30am and fish from 8-9am. Kids ages 8-13 can register beginning at 8:30am and fish from 9am-10am.
The rules are: 1) Bring your own fishing pole. 2) No live bait, & no spinners! Single hooks only. 3) No catch & release! 4) One fish per child.
Parking is limited and the event usually draws a very large crowd. Bring a lawn chair and your patience. Allow extra time to get parked and walk to the pond. And have a wonderful time!
