THE FRONT PORCH: Worth the splurge

I don’t know if anyone has noticed recently, but the cost of living has become pretty astronomical.

I find myself budgeting often, working odd jobs just to make ends meet, and saving just to afford things I might actually enjoy.

Despite our current economic climate, there are still some things I always find myself splurging on.

Good food is at the top of my list when it comes to spending. My taste buds refuse to settle for anything less than delicious.

A nice iced coffee is something else I indulge in frequently. I am just a creature of habit and want what I enjoy, which just so happens to be a coffee that may or may not cost $8.

Last but not least, enjoying a movie at my local theater is an activity I am always willing to spend money on. Action and horror movies are my favorite to experience in a theater.

It’s OK to spend a little extra on the things that bring us happiness. What is the point of hard work if you don’t also do the things you enjoy?
