Anna Knapp’s Halloween tour of horrifying horror, part three – ‘Twelvepole Manor’

By Anna Knapp, RealWV

I had never been to Twelvepole Manor, located in the heart of Wayne’s downtown, but was so excited to visit it after all the great things I had heard. The infamous Deadwood Family has been giving the tri-state area the most thrilling and bone-chilling scares they have ever encountered.

Since this attraction is located in the downtown area, parking is sparse and you might have to walk a little to get to the ticket booth. But if you get there early enough there is a parking lot close!

I was so excited to visit this attraction – not only because it was my first time – but also it was giving me the opportunity to meet more of my online spooky friends. Once parked I made my way to the ticket booth where Foster Deadwood greeted me. Foster was generous enough to invite me in the back so I could meet the rest of the Deadwood family and the owners of the attraction. Foster and Cora Deadwood are also Scurryface Reps and it was so great finally getting to meet in person!

My absolute favorite thing about this attraction is the location because it is so unexpected. It is nestled between two houses with the ticket booth and queue line on the street. Due limited space they do not have a midway, but they do have a couple actors running around in the lines and on the street. You will meet a very tall rabbit that might scream at you and innocently run away and a pig with a chainsaw. These actors interacted with guests very well and kept everyone entertained while waiting for the haunt to open.

It was time to go into the haunt and my partner and I got paired to go in with the group that was in front of us. From the very beginning I knew it was going to be an exciting walkthrough because a gentleman in that group was freaking out while we were outside waiting. By the time my partner and I had gotten into the second room of the house the gentleman’s friends had left him and it was up to us to help him make it through this haunted house alive. Figuratively, of course.

Twelvepole Manor does not hold back on the scare factor because the jump scares start as soon as you walk in the door. Animatronics and actors around everyone corner in some of the BEST set designs I have ever seen in a haunted house. This attraction will completely immerse you into a different world. I felt like I had been thrown into movies like “House Of 1000 Corpses” and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” all in one. The Deadwood Family has many different faces you will meet throughout which include a deranged family of clowns, butchers, possessed women and men, and you might just meet some farm animals too. All of the actors were entertaining and had amazing timing with jump and theatrical scares. You never know what or who is going to be around the next corner.

My time at Twelvepole Manor was nothing short of amazing and is the perfect place to finish off the spooky season. To the unique location, the actors and the haunt you will be talking about this place for days after your visit.
