Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department now hiring deputies

PRESS RELEASE:

Testing Date: October 11, 2025 at 12:00 pm. Do Not Be Late

Testing Location: Greenbrier East High School located at 273 Spartan Lane Lewisburg, WV (Computer Lab).

All application can be picked up at the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office both Lewisburg and Rupert Offices. Applicants will received a letter of receipt and further instructions in the mail.

All applicants must REGISTER through the WV Division of Personnel and apply. Can be reached at https://personnel.wv.gov/Pages/default.aspx Again, one must register to take the civil service examination. (See Attached Instruction Sheet).

The cut-off date and time to apply through the Division of Personnel will be October 9, 2025, at 1:00 pm. If someone attempts to apply after this date and time, they will NOT be eligible.

Applicants that successfully completed the civil service written examination will be contacted on a later date to participate in the physical agility examination.

That exam consists of the following:

• 1.5 mile run in (14) minutes and (36) seconds.
• 18 push-ups in (1) minute.
• 28 sit-ups in (1) minute.

1. Submit your application at https://personnel.wv.gov/Pages/default.aspx 

2. Click Orange colored box that reads “Apply Now”

3. Click Orange colored box that reads “Search Available Public Jobs”

4. Search for “Deputy Sheriff Entry Level A” 

1. Please note: this search is in alphabetical order and is usually noted on Page #4 of this search. 

5. Click on the “Deputy Sheriff Entry Level A” 

6. Click Green colored box on top right-hand corner that reads “Apply”

7. Click “Create an Account” tab and create an account if you have not done so through the Division of Personnel previously. 

If you already have an account through the Division of Personnel, sign in and follow further instructions accordingly.
