BECKLEY, WV — Burm Booksellers is delighted to announce an exclusive book signing event with the local author Devona Burgess scheduled to take place on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at our bookstore, located at 209 Prince Street. The author’s signing event will give fans and book lovers the unique opportunity to meet the author, have their books personally signed, and engage in an enriching literary experience.

About the Author

C. S. Amos was born and raised in the mountains of Southern West Virginia. He left Big Creek High School in the 11th grade to join the U.S. Army in 1965. He married his beloved wife in 1975 and raised a son while he built a dedicated career in public service. He graduated in 1980 from Urbana University with a degree in accounting. After 28 years of service with the IRS and 24 years of Military service he retired. In 2010 he moved with his wife to Florida, but his Appalachian roots remain a deep part of who he is. An avid outdoorsman, and ordained Minister. He continues to serve faithfully as a Deacon and Minister in his local church. His writing reflects his deep faith, strong family values, and enduring connection to the coal town and community that shaped him.

About the Book-The Coal Miner’s Wife

In a rugged coal camp shaped by coal dust, danger and long days a small group of coal miner’s wives fights to keep their families, their faith, and their hopes intact. Tragedies strike without warnings and families must make devastating decisions. Wives know the

possible dangers and their strength, faith and tenacity are the very characteristics that define generations of Appalachian women who fight unimaginable hardships, unemployment, and fear for the survival of their families. The Coal Miner’s Wife is a moving story of love, loss and the amazing strength it takes to survive. Many of their hopes and dreams will remain forever buried in the coal mines.

Meet & Greet and Reading

The book signing event will commence with a brief meet and greet session where attendees will have the chance to interact with Mr. Amos. This is an excellent opportunity for fans to express their admiration, ask questions, and take photographs with the author. At 12:30 pm, Mr. Amos will also do a short reading.

Book Signing and Raffle

Mr. Amos will be signing copies of his book, The Coal Miner’s Wife. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own copies of the book or purchase one at the event. Copies currently available at Burm Booksellers.

Stop by Burm Booksellers before the signing event to enter the raffle to win a free copy of The Coal Miner’s Wife. The drawing will be held at 1:45 p.m. on the date of the book signing.
