NEW ORLEANS – Redshirt freshman Dom Collins of the Concord University men’s track & field team has been named as a United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA) Second Team All-American.
Collins raced to a 12th-place finish in the 60-meter dash at the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships in Virginia Beach, Virginia on Friday. The announcement from the USTFCCCA made Collins’ All-American performance official.
The Princeton, West Virginia native clocked a time of 6.72 seconds in the 60-meters which was just 0.02 seconds off his school record time that he set at the Mountain East Conference Championships in late February.
He becomes the second CU men’s track & field athlete to be named an All-American during the indoor season, and the first since RJ Anderson in 2012. Overall, Collins is the fifth All-American for the Concord men’s track & field program, indoor or outdoor, in school history.
