CRW adds electric aircraft charging infrastructure to support the future of aviation
PRESS RELEASE
CHARLESTON, WV – West Virginia International Yeager Airport (CRW) is pleased to announce the installation of a new BETA Technologies charging station, providing infrastructure to support electric aircraft at the Airport. The project is being highlighted today as Marshall University’s Bill Noe Flight School announces its training and education partnership with BETA Technologies.
Located near the Bill Noe Flight School on the Airport’s general aviation side, the project includes a BETA Charge Cube for electric aircraft and a Level 2 charger for automobiles.
The Airport installed the charging infrastructure in partnership with BETA and Coalfields Development Corporation, and Appalachian Power played a major role with the electrical service needed to bring the charger into operation.
“Preparing for the future of aviation means putting the right infrastructure in place today,” said Dominique Ranieri, Airport Director & CEO. “This charging station gives CRW the ability to support electric aircraft and creates new opportunities for our Airport and West Virginia. We appreciate BETA Technologies for making this investment possible, and we are proud to support Marshall as its partnership with BETA moves forward.”
CRW led the infrastructure work, coordinating engineering, utility service, competitive bidding, construction, and installation. Airport Design Consultants, Inc. (ADCI) and its engineering team designed the improvements and supported project delivery. Osborne Construction completed the construction work.
CRW thanks these project partners, the Airport Authority Board, and its FAA partners for their continued support of safe, modern airport infrastructure.
“All of our infrastructure projects at CRW, including our CRWNext terminal development project, would not be possible without the continued support of Senators Shelley Moore Capito and Jim Justice, Congresswoman Carol Miller, Governor Patrick Morrisey, the State of West Virginia, the Kanawha County Commission, and the City of Charleston,” Ranieri added.
