John Gillespie

“He has been so good to us for many, many years!” says Phyllis Cantrell, Executive Director of Gateway Industries, who nominated John Gillespie to be the Real West Virginian of the Week. “He helps with so many community events!”

John, his brother Charley, and his sister Martha run Gillespie’s Flowers & Productions together in White Sulphur Springs. They celebrated 100 years in business last year. Read more about that here.

Over the years, they’ve planned parties for everyone from presidents to movie stars. But according to Phyllis, without their help local parties such as Derby Day, Oscar Night, and many more would be lost without help from John and his team.

John is active in the community via membership in the White Sulphur Springs Rotary and being an officer at Ronceverte Presbyterian Church, among others civic groups. He always has a smile and a positive affirmation for those he meets each day.

For being a business leader who always works to support nonprofits and the causes they benefit throughout the Greenbrier Valley, we are proud to name John Gillespie as the certified Real West Virginian of the Week.
