Backroads of Appalachia partners with City of Hinton to collect flood relief supplies
By RealWV staff,
“The Great Appalachian Relief Run” is providing much-needed flood relief for neighbors impacted by Hurricane Helene.
A partnership between Backroads of Appalachia and the City of Hinton (Summers County, WV), residents from near and far have donated everything from totes to propane to diapers to water over the last three days.

The items will be delivered to the Asheville, NC, area by Jerry Bain and a team from Backroads of Appalachia this coming weekend. According to Jed Smith, all relief efforts have been coordinated with local officials.
“This isn’t a tourist attraction; we’re going to help and work,” Jed says. “They don’t need people going down and just taking pictures.”
Backroads of Appalachia also is taking monetary donations for folks who would prefer others buy supplies which are needed locally. To donate, visit https://backroadsofappalachia.org/.
