Tammy Tincher

Tammy Tincher has been telling Greenbrier County’s story through her service as commissioner since her election in 2018, but the commission is not where her service ends.

Tammy has served as a board member of the Meadow River Valley Association, the Greenbrier Valley Support Center, and the Greenbrier Valley Extension & 4-H Foundation. Tincher has also served as vice-president of the Greenbrier Valley Airport Authority, as a member of the Farm Bureau and Greenbrier County’s Farmland Protection Board, and as secretary and treasurer of the Rainelle United Methodist Church. And that’s to say nothing of her service at the state and national level.

But unfortunately, as good things always do, after seven long years, Tammy’s time as County Commissioner has come an end. While nothing publicly has been said about her service to other organizations, Tammy announced that last Tuesday’s meeting of the county commission would be her last. As is so often the case with a home-grown star player, a bigger team came calling.

Beginning next week, Tammy will be the new Director of Member Engagement for the National Association of Counties. In her new role, Tammy’s positive impact will be felt in counties all across the United States.

For all that she’s done for Greenbrier County, and for West Virginia – and all that she will no doubt continue to do – it is with gratitude that we name Tammy Tincher the certified Real West Virginian of the Week.
