Glenville State University and Concord University Esports set to co-host the 2026 Spring WVSEL finals

GLENVILLE, WV – Concord University and Glenville State Esports programs are set to come together to co-host the 2026 Spring West Virginia Scholastic Esports League (WVSEL) finals. The championship will take place on Glenville State’s campus at the Mollohan Campus Community Center. The tournament will feature more than 100 student competitors across a wide range of popular titles, including Rocket League, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Madden, Fortnite, Overwatch, Apex Legends, Rainbow Six Siege, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Brawlhalla, and Marvel Rivals

Glenville State Esports Director Austin Pantaleo said this marks the first time Glenville State University has hosted an esports event of this scale. The institution brings  a strong track record of successfully organizing large-scale campus events, and he looks to  translate that success into the Esports space. 

Concord University Esports Director Austin Clay expects success. 

“We’re incredibly excited to be co-hosting the WVSEL Finals at Glenville State. This event marks a  significant step forward for high school and middle school esports in West Virginia,  and we’re proud to be part of that growth. Having the opportunity to collaborate with Glenville State  while showcasing the strength of Concord Esports’ production team makes this even more  special. I’m looking forward to seeing these players rise to the moment and compete at their best  on a big stage,” Clay said. 

Looking forward to the event, Clay said the student production team and staff are dedicated to  making this the best event possible. Concord University Esports has hosted and produced over a  dozen LAN events, gaining national recognition for its production team.

Showcasing the remarkable esports talent  within West Virginia is a core mission at Concord, and capturing unforgettable moments for these  students is exactly why we work so hard to deliver a premier tournament experience.” 

Pantaleo said Glenville aims to offer a polished, high-quality championship from start to finish. 

“Our goal is to create a premier esports event that not only highlights competitive excellence but  also builds meaningful pathways for students into higher education and future careers. This  event represents the continued growth of esports in West Virginia and the incredible opportunities  it creates for students across the state,” he said. “We’re excited to bring together so much talent in  one place, provide a true championship-level experience, and give these students a stage  to showcase their skills, passion, and dedication. It’s about more than just competition; it’s about  opening doors, building connections, and helping shape the future of esports in our  region,” Pantaleo said. 

The WVSEL Spring Finals are free and open to the public, allowing spectators to experience high level esports competition both in person and through live broadcasts on Glenville State’s and  Concord University Esports’ official Twitch channels. The championship will take place on Glenville State’s campus at the Mollohan Campus Community Center, beginning at 9 a.m., Friday, April 24.
