Bluefield State soccer accepted as affiliate member of the USCAA

Bluefield, WV – The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) has officially accepted Bluefield State University as an affiliate member for women’s soccer, beginning with the 2026-27 academic year.

“Joining the USCAA is an incredible opportunity for our program to be established at a national level,” said head coach Kevin Hurtado. “This opportunity means everything to our student-athletes, and we are excited to get to work this season. The opportunities for our program are now endless, and we are excited for this journey to begin this fall. We understand the road that is ahead of us, but we are excited to prove ourselves every day in our journey towards the USCAA National Championship.”

This membership grants the Big Blue eligibility to compete in the USCAA postseason tournaments and nominate student-athletes for all-sports honors. This affiliation opens up immediate postseason pathways and expanded competition opportunities for both returning leaders and international newcomers for the Big Blue.

“I couldn’t be more excited that our program is joining the USCAA,” said Senior Captain Paige Kohl. “This opportunity means so much to us and opens up new opportunities for growth, competition, and most importantly, representing Bluefield State University. I am super excited to see what we accomplish over the next year and show what our program is about.”

“Coming from another part of the world, I’m very excited about this opportunity and feel grateful to be a part of such an important development,” said transfer Anna Zsirka-Klein from Hungary. “I look forward to representing Bluefield State University and making my contribution to success in the USCAA.”

For returning sophomore A’mya Ross, the affiliation adds an exciting goal for the Big Blue.

“Being part of the USCAA gives our NCAA Division II women’s soccer team an incredible opportunity to compete in postseason play and chase a championship,” said Ross. “It’s exciting to know that our hard work throughout the season can lead to meaningful games, unforgettable experiences, and the chance to bring home a title. It’s an opportunity we’re truly excited about, and can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together.”
